Renewable raw materials for sustainable living

Our BIOFORSENSE® technology gently extracts all three main constituents of biomass: polymeric hemicellulose XYLENSE®, sulphur-free lignin LIGNENSE®, and dissolving cellulose CELLENSE™.

The resulting biomaterials are extremely pure and close to their natural form, and can fully replace fossil-based raw materials in a wide range of applications. For example, they can be used as raw materials in applications such as textiles and clothing, cosmetics, packaging, paints and glue.

Hemicellulose – XYLENSE®

Polymeric hemicellulose is a multipurpose, renewable biopolymer with many versatile, high-value applications due to its water solubility, biodegradability and amorphous, flexible structure. For example, it can be used as an environmentally friendly and inexpensive emulsifier to stabilise food and cosmetic products. It can also be used to produce more natural and environmentally friendly packaging.

Lignin – LIGNENSE®

Lignin is nature’s own inexhaustible resource. Lignin is, by nature, a branched and cross-linked polymer which contains both hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups. Lignin’s unique composition has enabled it to find a wide range of applications. For example, it serves as an emulsifier, dispersant, binder, adhesive, and additive across diverse industries such as construction, agriculture, water treatment, oil drilling, and ore processing.

Cellulose – CELLENSE™

Dissolving cellulose is suitable for applications that require a high purity and an especially low hemicellulose content. The largest market at present is the textile industry, where it is used as a substitute for cotton and oil-based raw materials. CELLENSE is also suitable for MCC (micro crystalline cellulose) production to replace microplastics in various consumables. Nature’s own diverse raw material is easy to bleach and its fibres stay intact.
